DPF Cleaning:
DPF Cleaning is a vital process to keep your diesel particulate filter operating efficiently and effectively on your diesel engine vehicle, whether that’s a diesel car, van or HGV.
As part of the normal operation of the engine, when carbon builds up inside the DPF filter, a cleaning process is initiated by the vehicles ECU (engine management system) to burn off this build up.
This DPF cleaning process is called a ‘DPF regeneration’, normally achieved by injecting additional diesel into the diesel particulate filter, which generates a high temperature inside the DPF filter.
You can find out more about the regeneration process here.
Sometimes the normal regeneration is not sufficient for effective DPF cleaning, and additional processes have to be carried out.
The DPF filter is positioned and fitted in the exhaust system, and is not designed as a removable part for cleaning. These additional cleaning services that may be required are specialist processes.
There are a number of different DPF cleaning services offered by ourselves and others, depending on the severity of the blockage and extent of DPF cleaning required.
We have a guide to Cleaning your DPF, the process options and the costs involved which you can download by clicking here or the image on the page.
